In recent weeks, new images have been captured at our Youth and Family Hostels in Villach, Klagenfurt and Velden Cap Wörth.

They provide an up-to-date overview of the hostels, including newly designed rooms, upgraded common areas, as well as seminar and shared spaces, and highlight the latest developments on site.

Villach – Fresh Colours and New Accents

A lot has changed at our Youth and Family Hostel Villach in recent months. The newly redesigned comfort rooms and multi-bed rooms immediately catch the eye, featuring fresh colours and thoughtful details that create a completely new atmosphere.

The lobby also welcomes guests with its open and friendly character – the perfect place to arrive and relax. A special highlight is the in-house bouldering hall, offering an attractive activity for more active guests. The spacious dining and function hall further complements the facilities and provides plenty of room for groups.

Velden Cap Wörth – Modern Design in a Unique Location

Located directly on the shores of Lake Wörthersee, our Youth and Family Hostel Velden Cap Wörth impresses not only with its stunning setting, but also with its continuous development.

The newly designed comfort rooms combine modern style with a high level of comfort. The reception and bar area have also been redesigned and now present themselves in a fresh, contemporary look. Additional features include cosy common areas, a play corner and bright seminar rooms – ideal for groups and events.

Travelling to Carinthia has never been as convenient, fast and environmentally friendly as it is today! Thanks to the new southern railway route via the Koralmtunnel and the expanded services of ÖBB and Westbahn, our guests can choose from numerous daily train connections.

Since December 2025, the Koralmbahn railway has been offering fast and comfortable travel from Graz to Klagenfurt. From March 2026 onwards, Westbahn will provide additional direct connections from Vienna via Graz to Klagenfurt and Villach.

Our Youth and Family Hostels in Klagenfurt, Villach and Velden are all easily accessible by train – ideal for a stress-free and climate-friendly journey without a car.

Whether travelling from Vienna, Lower Austria, Upper Austria or Styria – train connections to Klagenfurt and Villach have been significantly improved:

]]> This year once again, we are offering supervised holiday weeks full of adventure and fun in Cap Wörth in Velden am Wörthersee, in cooperation with the Carinthian Provincial Youth Department and the Carinthian Naturfreunde.

  • Date 1: Sunday, July 12 to Friday, July 17, 2026
  • Date 2: Sunday, July 26 to Friday, July 31, 2026
  • Date 3: Sunday, August 2 to Friday, August 7, 2026
  • Date 4: Sunday, August 9 to Friday, August 14, 2026

Our varied leisure program at the lakeside holiday camp ensures plenty of fun, games, and excitement. We make full use of the camp facilities and the beautiful surroundings right by the lake. Look forward to unforgettable and carefree summer days with friends.

Age Group / Requirements:

  • Children and teenagers aged 7 to 14 years
  • Requirement: The child must be able to swim without flotation aids.

What we offer:

  • Modern multi-bed rooms with private bathroom and toilet
  • Swimming with private beach access
  • Football (soccer)
  • Badminton
  • Volleyball
  • Motorboat ride with banana and ringo (one ride included in the rice)
  • Movie night and disco
  • Information day with the Austrian Water Rescue Service

Costs:

  • EUR 405.00 per person, including full board and membership/insurance with the Carinthian Naturefreunde.
  • For holders of the Carinthian Family Card, the fee is reduced to EUR 355.00.
  • For Naturfreunde members, the price is reduced by an additional EUR 28.00. Please make sure to provide your Family Card number or membership number when registering.
  • As the number of participants is limited, early registration is strongly recommended.

Despite past challenges, the continued operation of the ski area is secured, and we are excited to welcome you again this winter. From December 20, 2024, to March 30, 2025, all lifts and slopes will be open – promising plenty of snow, ski adventures, and unforgettable winter experiences!

]]> On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, the committees of the ÖJHV Carinthia were re-elected. In the presence of State Governor Dr. Peter Kaiser attended the ordinary general meeting last Wednesday. Kaiser is president of the Austrian Youth Hostel Association at the federal level and delivered greetings to the general assembly.

At the general meeting on July 24, 2024, Michael Raunig was re-elected president. Gerd Riegler, Christoph Appé and Klaus Bayer were re-elected as vice presidents. Michael Raunig is also Executive President of the Austrian Youth Hostel Association alongside Peter Kaiser.

The delegates were particularly proud of the participation of ÖJHV Carinthia honorary member Heli Bauer at the general assembly. Heli Bauer has been actively involved in setting up the Carinthian youth hostel system since 1949 and still actively follows the work of the ÖJHV today.
